To provide your products with a beautiful powder coating finish, you need a system to charge the powder statically before spraying
The positively charged powder is attracted to the negatively grounded workpiece.

Static loading of the powder can be done in 2 ways
By means of the corona principle and with the Tribo principle

The purpose of both principle operations is static powder loading. The difference is in the way the powder is positively charged

The Tribo process works with friction just like rubbing your hair with a balloon.

The Tribo gun has a friction system through which powder is passed and positively charged from the gun.

In a Corona process, a high voltage electrostatic field is generated where the powder is blown through the field and thus charged.

Both principles will attract the positively charged gun gun to a negatively grounded workpiece.

As with everything, both working principles have both advantages and disadvantages.

Below you can see the advantages and disadvantages and can thus determine which principle is most suitable for you.
Corona:
+ Any type and quality of powder can be used.
+ Can be set more accurately on layer thickness, which in particular allows for more economical spraying during mass production.

- High voltage risk of flashover if used incorrectly.
- Not suitable for persons with pacemakers or hypersensitivity to voltage fields.

- Only suitable for conductive material.
Tribo:
+ Less problems when coating in small corners and shielded parts due to the Faraday effect cage.
+ Tribo powder coating is also safer due to the absence of high voltage.
+ More layers of build-up possible than with corona system because the powder does not depend on built-up static charge build-up.
+ Also suitable for less / poor or even non-conductive materials, glass, plastic, wood and ceramics.

- Possibility of caking and clogging with low quality powders, metallic and textured powders.
- Requires more testing and experience than a corona system.
